Jon Shaw, Chief Executive Officer, Board Member
Jon has 30 years of experience in leading both start up tech companies and established business enterprises. In addition to his role with Passfaces he is currently the Board Chair of Metasource LLC an innovative business process outsourcing firm.
Jon built a document imaging company, Imagent, from 1980 though 1996. In 1996 he merged Imagent with several other outsourcing companies and helped launch a successful IPO of FYI Inc. From 1996 – 2000, as division president, Jon managed the largest business unit of FYI Inc, now SourceCorp, growing it from $13,500,000 to $155,000,000. He also retained a seat on the board of directors and the corporate governance committee from 1996 through 2004. Jon has served on the following corporate boards: Dakota Imaging, a health payer expert systems provider that was sold to Emdeon; Adfluence, an online interactive advertising company serving the financial services industry, Catalyst IT Services. Jon is also a General Partner in Costa Reit I a Costa Rican land banking firm, a member of Chesapeake Emerging Opportunities (an angel investors club) and is the founder and manager of BaltimOrganic an organic vegetable produce company.
Paul Barrett, Chairman
Paul has over 20 years leadership experience in the
IT security industry in
technology, product and business development. In
1984 he independently developed the world's first
high-speed implementation of the now ubiquitous RSA
crypto-system. From 1985 to 1989, Paul worked for
Computer Security Limited, where he was responsible
for, amongst other achievements, the introduction of
the (now market-leading) SecurID authentication
token into Europe. In 1990, he co-founded
authentication token business, SmartDisk (Nasdaq:
SMDK), which he managed and led to a successful sale
in 1996. In 1998 Paul joined UK company VDL -
developers of the PassfacesT cognometric
authentication technology - and launched PassCenterT,
the first single sign on service for the Internet.
In 2000 Paul restructured and relocated VDL to the
USA where it now operates as Passfaces Corporation.
Paul has a BS in Electronics from Sussex University
and an MS in Computation from Oxford University.
Andrew Ryan, Chief Technical Officer
Andrew has worked in the information security industry for over 20 years.
He was the original designer of the SafeBoot Device Encryption system
(now McAfee Endpoint Encryption) and, as Research & Development Manager,
was responsible for the growth and coordination of the SafeBoot R&D team.
As an independent consultant specialising in information security and
embedded systems, he has provided software design and development services
to a variety of organizations, has given a series of smart card technology
training courses to the Brazilian banking community and presented papers
on smart card and authentication technologies at a number of industry conferences.
As Development Director at Dot Origin, he has lead the design and development of
a number of products ranging from digital tachograph applications to IP-based physical
access control systems using contactless smart card technology.
As CTO of Passfaces Corporation, he has been responsible for the design and overseen
the development of all of the Passfaces products and co-authored a number of related
patents. Andrew holds a degree in Computing and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Sussex.
Vice President of Customer
Steve is a senior information technology manager
with extensive experience in the development and
growth of professional services, customer support,
and educational organizations. He has expertise in
personnel management, solution development/delivery,
methodology development and quality management
systems. Steve has held several senior leadership
positions at both Sybase and Portal Software, and
has played a critical role in the development and
successful operation of a number of different
organizations. Steve has a BA in Math from the
University of Maryland and an MS in Computer Science
from Johns Hopkins University.
